Birth and Post Partum Doula Services
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained support person who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and possibly the early postpartum period. A doula does not replace your doctor or midwife and does not perform medical tasks. Instead, they stay by your side, help you understand your options, offer comfort measures, and support both you and your partner so you feel safer, more confident, and more cared for throughout the birth experience.
Evidence shows that having a doula attend the birth improves birth outcomes.
The post-partum period can be pretty tough with all the changes going on in one home. We forget that birth partners go through their own post-partum adjustment period as well. Whether you need help with your home, support with feeding baby or sleep schedules, help with laundry, or meal trains, a post-partum doula may be right for you! You will schedule an interview with the doula to talk about what post-partum care could look like for you.
As doulas, we keep an extra careful watch for signs of post-partum depression. If you don't already have a therapist or a professional to check in with, it is a great idea to find one now.
